Description

This was a great commission, the client Mike really gave me complete flexibility in creating a mermaid bust. So I based her on a lionfish which is a really beautiful and venomous tropical fish and she's holding another venomous animal, a blue-ringed octopus. On the base are strands of seaweed with aventunturine beads inset. Also a cuttlefish with glass bead eyes, silver-green minnows, and an orange jellyfish who's body is made of half a glass bead..

The fins were made with transluscent liquid sculpey (TLS) over white floral wire veins and painted with acrylics. What isn't obvious from the photos is that the entire torso has a very slight sheen to it of interference gold pearlex powder, and the freckles on her face are pearlescent.
